Short answer

A custom motorized roller shade from Smart Blinds Pro starts at $154.83 for a 24 x 36 inch window, motor included. One 36 x 48 inch window with professional installation comes to about $441, and a six-window room about $1,825. Size, fabric, motor type and installation are what move the price.

What drives the price

  • Window size. Price climbs with width and height; very small windows hit a minimum charge.
  • Fabric. Light-filtering fabrics cost less than blackout; cellular (honeycomb) shades cost more than roller shades and insulate better.
  • Motor and power. Battery motors need no wiring; hardwired motors need power at the window.
  • Smart home control. Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home control is chosen in the configurator, which shows its price.
  • Installation. Do it yourself with the included brackets, or book our team where we install (below).
  • High windows. Windows 8 to 16 feet up add $50 each to installation; above 16 feet is quoted.

Frequently asked questions

How much does one motorized blind cost?

Our custom motorized roller shades start at $154.83 for a 24 x 36 inch window with the motor included, and the price rises with size and fabric. Other retailers' prices vary widely, so compare the same size and fabric type.

How much does it cost to install motorized blinds?

Our professional installation for motorized shades is $199 for the first window and $35 for each additional window, including smart home setup. Windows 8 to 16 feet high add $50 each. Installation by our own team is available in Redmond and nearby Eastside cities in Washington; elsewhere most people install battery shades themselves.

Do motorized blinds need an electrician?

Not for battery-powered shades. Ours use a rechargeable battery and mount with the same brackets as a manual shade, so no wiring is needed. Hardwired motors need a power line at the window and are usually planned during construction or remodeling.

Are motorized blinds worth the extra cost?

They are most worth it for windows that are hard to reach, large or heavy shades, rooms where you want schedules (bedrooms, home offices with afternoon glare) and homes with small children, since there are no cords. For an easy-to-reach window you rarely adjust, a cordless shade gives the same child safety for less.

What warranty comes with motorized shades?

The shade carries our 3-year product warranty, and the motor and battery carry a 5-year warranty.
